In 2010, I was elected State Representative for the 21st district. Since then, our community has seen some tremendous successes in the legislature.

First, our most recent state budget (for which I serve on the Ohio House Finance & Appropriations committee) added over a million dollars more per year in funding for both Dublin and Worthington school districts. Because this exceeded original forecasts, at least one school district may extend its current levy several more years.

Second, the legislature cut taxes by a net $2.7 billion over the next three years. The budget reduces personal income taxes for all Ohioans by 10% while simultaneously providing small businesses with a 50% deduction on their first $250,000 in business income. This will really help "mom-and-pop" businesses thrive.

Third, interchange improvements are underway on Interstate 270 at 33 (Dublin) and 23 (Worthington). Projects that were delayed by more than a decade are now under construction. As a result, traffic flow will be greatly improved in our district, vehicle crashes should decrease and economic investment will grow.

This fall, I am sponsoring legislation to protect senior citizens from nursing home abuse, to protect vehicle owners from predatory towing abuses and to allow schools to stock epinephrine to help save the lives of students with life-threatening, but perhaps unknown, allergies. These are a few of the bills I?m working on right now.

We are blessed with a great district - from Dublin to Worthington, across Washington, Perry and Sharon Townships and the City of Columbus. My wife, Lindsay, grew up in Dublin and I grew up in Worthington, where I served on city council for five years. We are both public schools graduates and Lindsay is a teacher.

We love raising our two children, Jack and Annie, in such a wonderful community. It has been my good fortune to represent you in the Ohio legislature.

Warmest regards,

Mike Duffey
